The girl behind
‘iAM’ and everything around this name is a creation of Joyce. Joyce is a helpful, talented, and especially very creative perfectionist. She was born in Utrecht, The Netherlands on May 19, 1989. She lives with her parents and brother in Houten (small city near Utrecht). She feels very comfortable when she is at home. But if she gets her own house (like her sister) she wouldn’t mind, because she is very excited about living on her own. If she’s going to have her own house, she wants a ditches building with long big windows. But ‘I like it at home, I don’t want to go yet’, she said.
She as student
At the moment, Joyce is a student on the Graphic School in Utrecht: Grafisch Lyceum Utrecht. She follows the training all round desktop publisher (DTP), where she learns how to put texts and images on the right places in leaflets or magazines. Joyce is not a graphic/art designer yet, but in the future she really wants to become a designer. It doesnít matter what kind of designer. She loves to make things for others and uses her imagination to create some things. It is one of her dreams. ‘This all is a nice experience and I learn a lot so far, but this is not where I want to earn my money with in the future’, says Joyce.
Inspiration
It’s the same room where Joyce makes her art and where she gets her inspiration for her art. On one big wall is a big artwork of graffiti, made by two real artists. But Joyce is also very creative with her room herself. She is very proud of her selfmaded flyerwall, she began two years ago with this wall (Started: May 17, 2005. Ended: May 17, 2007). That’s why she always collects flyers of every event for more than three years! She has an obsession for Converse All Stars and she has no less than 8 pairs of those shoes at home! Her other big passion is Christina Aguilera. Without a doubt she is one of the biggest fans of this amazing singer. She gets a lot of inspiration from her lyrics and Christina is like a friend to her; The music drags Joyce through bad times and gives her the power to move on. ‘And she is the most beautiful woman in the whole world, I just love her’, said Joyce. (Just for the fans like you) Joyce’s favorite ‘Xtina’ numbers are: Underappreciated, I Will Be, Back In The Day, Too Beautiful For Words, Falsas Esperansas, Blessed and Soar!

‘My biggest obsession is to make collages with Photoshop CS2 and Illustrator CS2. Collages can show you so much, that’s the beauty of it’, Joyce tells us. Making art with Photoshop CS2 (or with another program on her iMac) is the perfect way for her to express herself. When she is angry, sad or very happy, you can tell by just looking at her collages. For more than a year ago, Joyce was very active at a Belgian art forum (called Blendworld) where she learned to make things with programs like Paint Shop Pro and Photoshop CS2. First she began to make things with Paint Shop Pro, but when she heard that Photoshop was a way better program, she began to learn this program. In a very short time it was clear that Joyce was busy trying to distinguish herself from the others all the time. She strikes above the others on this forum with her different ‘organized / messy collages’. And every time you see one of her collages again, you can discover so much than when you saw the collage for the first time. When she exercised more, these creations became more professional and very quick she grew of a talented beginner to one of the most valued members of the forum. Especially when Joyce learned more about the functions of Photoshop and Illustrator at her new school, she became better and better.
Exit; about now
And then it was very quiet around Joyce.. she lost her inspiration and didn’t want to make anything with her favorite programs. Nothing motivated her. she looked at her favorite magazines, it didn’t do anything to her. But she promised herself to do more with her favourite programs, so she can show everyone she did not stop doing her own thing.
